NEWARK, Del. – Four All-Conference performances powered James Madison cross country to a second-place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship at White Clay Creek State Park on Saturday.
Senior
Carol Strock led the way for the Dukes with a second-place individual finish. Strock hung tight with the lead pack throughout the 6K race, edging out Elon's Kimberly Johansen with a lunge at the finish line for a 21:26.12 time.
Junior
Nora Raher (6th – 21:49.35), senior
Tessa Mundell (9th – 22:06.28) and sophomore
Olivia Viparina (11th – 22:10.31) joined Strock in earning All-CAA honors by finishing in the top 12.
Freshman
Emily Murphy rounded out the Dukes' scoring by recording a 19th-place finish in 22:35.74.
The course was mostly flat, featuring one large hill and a gradual downhill slope for the final 1,200 meters.
William & Mary's Regan Rome was the individual champion with a time of 21:12.64, and led the Tribe to a team win with 34 points. JMU recorded a strong 47 points by way of five top-20 finishes, besting third-place Elon by 19 points.
