Interview Policy
Interview requests for any non-coaching JMU Athletics employee should be filed with Kevin Warner (warnerka@jmu.edu) in a timely fashion with at least 24 hours notice. Interview requests for coaches and student-athletes should be filed with communications staff members assigned to each sport program with at least 24 hours notice.
Any individual requesting an interview is discouraged from contacting a student-athlete or coach without prior approval from a communications staff member. JMU coaches and communications staff reserve the right to deny an interview request.
Credentials/Parking
JMU Football Credentials Form
Requests for single-game or season-long access to cover JMU Football will be linked above closer to the 2025 season. Requests to cover the a single game should be filed through the credential form no later than five days prior to a JMU football home game.
Requests for JMU men's and women's basketball or any other Olympic sport should be filed through the appropriate communications staff member no later than 72 hours prior to a selected event.
Credentials will not be issued to bloggers or digital media entities unless the outlet has an established readership or can provide proof or references of coverage in line with traditional media outlets. As available within the communications staff allotment, parking for football and basketball games can also be requested on a season-long or single-game basis.
Individuals hired as a freelance photographer or videographer for a visiting team playing James Madison University must have the request come via the visiting team's athletics communications office. Freelance photographers/videographers will not be granted credentialed access should the request not directly come in advance from the visiting team's communications office.
Many different types of content creators exist in the current digital age. Such requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to ensure that the content creator represents a credible content outlet with an established reach. Such requests are also dependent upon space availability in media areas.
Game Day Internet
Wireless internet access is available at all JMU home events for football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball and lacrosse. Ethernet or wired access for broadcast teams are available for the same sports with the exception of volleyball. If a media outlet or communications representative is covering a sport not listed above it is recommended to have a mobile device that can generate its own wireless connectivity.
Visiting Radio
Phone and ethernet connections are available at Bridgeforth Stadium, the Convocation Center, Veterans Memorial Park and Sentara Park. If requesting ethernet access for a broadcast, please provide at least 72 hours notice in order to file a static IP connection request with JMU network services.
Photography
Expectations of credentialed photographers:
- Photos taken at a JMU/NCAA event should be intended for the sole purpose of the media organization being served by the photographer and not for the photographer’s direct, personal sharing via online or social media channels
- Photos may not be sold
- Photos may not be provided to student-athletes or their family
- Photos may not be used to advertise the photographer’s services
- At football, all field-level photographers must wear a media vest at all times , which can be retrieved in the press box prior to kickoff
- Photographers must adhere to designated shooting areas for football - this is marked by dashed lines on both sides of the field. At no time may photographers be in the team bench area.
