HARRISONBURG, Va. - After nearly 109 minutes of action, James Madison fell short to Air Force, 1-0, on Sunday night in the last game of the Fairfield Inn by Marriott JMU Invitational at Sentara Park.
In a strong defensive match, the Dukes were limited to seven shots on the night. Redshirt senior Billy Metzler, senior Aaron Ward-Baptiste and junior Brennen Burton tallied three shots on goal for JMU.
HOW THEY SCORED
109' | Air Force scored the game-winner on a goal from sophomore Aaron Uribe, who touched the ball into the right side of the goal on a cross by senior Tucker Bone.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
JMU was outshot by Air Force 15-7 with the Falcons taking seven shots on goal to the Dukes' three. The Dukes took nine corners on the night to the Falcons' eight. Between the two programs, there were nine yellow cards and one red card.
CAREER MARKS
-Redshirt sophomore TJ Bush notched a career-high six saves on the night, one-upping his five against Northeastern on November, 10, 2017.
QUOTING HEAD COACH PAUL ZAZENSKI
"I'm extremely proud of our guys. They played very well and Air Force is a good team. One thing that cost us some trouble was picking up early yellows, forcing us to change up how we did things."
"Overall, a very resilient performance where many guys stepped into positions they had to play and I thought they did well in those moments. It is a disappointing result, but we will get back after it on the training field and head out to California."
UP NEXT
The Dukes head to California for matches against Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine on August 31 at 8 p.m. and September 1 at 10 p.m., respectively.
