CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston closed with an 18-2 run on Thursday evening, pulling away from James Madison to hand the Dukes a 70-53 loss in Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball at TD Arena.
The Dukes (9-14, 2-8 CAA) came out strong, holding the Cougars (17-6, 6-4 CAA) in check to only trail by two points at halftime, but Charleston blitzed the second half, going 14-of-24 (58.3 percent) from the field to pull away across the final eight minutes.
Senior
Stuckey Mosley continued his run of strong play, racking up 22 points with the help of five three-pointers to post his second straight 20-point effort and eighth of the season, while adding six boards. Sophomores
Matt Lewis and
Dwight Wilson chipped in 12 points apiece.
In a back-and-forth contest, neither team led by double-digits for the first 35 minutes of play. Mosley buried a three-pointer with 7:49 left to pull the Dukes within one at 52-51, but the Cougars would go on an 18-2 run to wrap up the contest and close out the Dukes.
Senior Grant Riller scored a game-high 24 points to lead Charleston, while senior Jarrell Brantley added 22 points and five boards.
