HUNTINGTON, W. VA. – James Madison recorded a season-best 55.0 percent (11-of-20) from three and 54.1 percent (33-of-61) from the field to fly by Marshall, 93-65, on Wednesday night inside the Cam Henderson Center in Sun Belt Conference women's basketball action.
JMU (14-4, 6-0 SBC) registered a season-high 14 steals and turned 20 Marshall turnovers (5-12, 0-6 SBC) into 29 points for the Dukes' sixth consecutive victory.
Ro Scott paced the Dukes with 20 points on 7-of-11 (.636) and grabbed three steals off the bench in her return to Huntington.
Peyton McDaniel finished with 15 points and six rebounds, hitting 3-of-6 (.500) from deep.
Zakiya Stephenson tied her career high of 13 points and dished out six assists, while
Kseniia Kozlova added 13 points and six boards.
Jamia Hazell chipped in with nine points and produced a pair of blocks and steals.
Bree Robinson went 2-for-2 from three for seven points and registered four assists and two steals.
CC Mays led all players with 24 points with an 8-for-13 (.615) effort from the field. Aislynn Hayes was the only other member of the Herd to score in double figures, finishing with 12 points and four assists. Leyocha Marigney wrangled in a game-high seven rebounds to go along with nine points.

First Quarter – JMU 24, Marshall 10
- The Dukes held Marshall to 1-of-8 (.125) from the field for an 11-2 JMU lead at the first media timeout.
- JMU knocked down four triples in the frame, highlighted by Scott going 2-for-2.
Second Quarter – JMU 50, Marshall 30
- Eight Dukes scored in the period, led by McDaniel with six.
- A 10-0 run kick-started by Robinson put the Dukes ahead 45-23 with 1:48 left in the frame.
- JMU wrapped up the first half shooting 17-of-32 (.531) from the field, 7-of-14 (.500) from three and 9-of-10 (.900) from the line.
Third Quarter – JMU 71, Marshall 45
- McDaniel hit down a pair of early shots from behind the arc to make it 61-39 at the media timeout.
- The Dukes were active defensively, recording seven steals and one block in the quarter.
Fourth Quarter – JMU 93, Marshall 65
- Stephenson connected on a corner three from Scott to give the Dukes their biggest lead of the game, 84-55, at the 6:03 mark.
- JMU shot 8-for-15 (.533) from the field to cruise to a 93-65 victory.
Game Notes
- The Dukes' 93 points are the most scored against a conference opponent since defeating College of Charleston 107-58 on March 14, 2015, as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association.
- The 93 points are also the most scored by JMU in a road conference game since posting a 93-45 win at Georgia State on Feb. 24, 2011.
- Lastly, the 93 points are tied for the most scored in a road conference game since falling to Richmond in overtime, 114-104, on Jan. 9, 2000.
- James Madison is 10-4 in the all-time series versus Marshall and has won the last two meetings.
- JMU's 24 first-quarter points are the most in an opening period in the team's 2024-25 campaign.
- The Dukes have started 6-0 or better in conference play for the third time under Head Coach Sean O'Regan, having previously gone 6-0 in the Dukes' inaugural season in the Sun Belt (2022-23) and 10-0 during the 2017-18 season as members of the Colonial Athletic Association.
- JMU held an advantage in points in the paint (38-26), bench points (35-20), points off turnovers (29-15) and fast break points (17-5).
- Marshall's Meredith Maier, who came into the series as the Sun Belt's leader in three-point makes, went a combined 0-for-10 against the Dukes.
