SAN MARCOS, Texas –
Peyton McDaniel recorded 23 points, while James Madison shot an efficient 31-of-64 (.484) from the field to overpower Texas State, 81-60, on Saturday afternoon inside Strahan Arena in Sun Belt Conference women's basketball action.
JMU (11-4, 3-0 SBC) controlled the glass as well, out-rebounding Texas State (7-6, 1-2 SBC) 39-29.
Kseniia Kozlova finished second in scoring for the Dukes with 14 points to go along with six rebounds.
Ro Scott added 12 points to eclipse 1,500 in her career and notched a pair of steals.
Bree Robinson chipped in with nine points, and posted career highs in assists (6) and boards (5).
Ashanti Barnes pulled down a team-best eight rebounds and produced six points in the win.
Terrell Destin paced the Bobcats with a double-double of 15 points and 10 assists. Morgan Hill and Ja'Mia Harris also scored in double figures, finishing with 12 and 11, respectively. Hill wrangled in eight boards, while Takeira Ramey dished out six assists in the loss.

First Quarter – JMU 18, TXST 6
- Both teams combined for 3-17 (.176) with the Dukes holding a 5-4 edge at the opening media timeout.
- JMU outscored the Bobcats 13-2 following the timeout to close the quarter, with six points coming from Kozlova.
Second Quarter – JMU 39, TXST 22
- The Dukes owned a 29-14 lead halfway through the second period, having held Texas State to just 4-of-24 (1.67) from the field up to that point.
- JMU shot 7-for-13 (.538) in the frame and made four of its last five shots to build a 39-22 advantage heading into the break.
Third Quarter – JMU 65, TXST 36
- McDaniel and Kozlova combined for 18 points on 8-of-9 (.889) shooting.
- The Dukes were efficient with the ball, dishing out seven assists in the period.
Fourth Quarter – JMU 81, TXST 60
- The Bobcats went 9-for-14 (.643) from the field and 3-of-4 (.750) from three to outscore JMU 24-16 in the final frame.

- JMU moves to 3-0 all-time against Texas State.
- The Dukes held an advantage in points in the paint (40-24), bench points (28-24), fast break points (23-5) and points off turnovers (22-7).
- With 23 points in Saturday's contest, McDaniel becomes the 17th Duke in program history with 1,300 or more career points. She also moved to 18th all-time in total points (1,302), passing Vicki Harris who amassed 1,294 from 1987-91.
- JMU's 81 points are the most an opponent has scored against the Bobcats at Strahan Arena during the 2024-25 campaign. James Madison also recorded 15 assists, the most by a Texas State opponent this season.
- Saturday's contest also tied for the third-most points scored by JMU in a regular season Sun Belt game. The most came in an 85-79 victory over ULM on Dec. 30, 2023.
- The Dukes' 39 points in the first half are the third-most scored by the team in an opening half, behind 52 versus Gardner-Webb (Nov. 17) and 43 against Florida (Nov. 29).
