History of the Field Hockey Complex
JMU Field Hockey competes at the JMU Field Hockey Field Complex on East Campus. The facility opened in 2003 and features a new artificial turf playing surface for field hockey that was installed prior to the 2014 season. The Desso turf system is the standard competition surface for hockey internationally. The installation included the addition of a state-of-the-art automated irrigation system as well as additional fencing that allows spectator viewing from the track area, closer to the competition venue. New banner signage was added in 2012 and a filming tour was constructed in 2018.
Private fundraising is underway for future expansion of the JMU Field Hockey Complex, to include locker rooms, offices, press box space, concessions, restrooms and more. Learn more about the project at

Directions
From Interstate 81
-Take Exit 247, Route 33 East/East Market Street.
-At the first stoplight, turn right onto Burgess Road.
-At the second stoplight, turn right onto Evelyn Byrd Avenue.
-At the first stoplight (Reservoir Street), continue straight, entering the JMU campus.
-The field hockey complex will be on your right. Parking is in Lot C-12.
From Godwin Hall
Exit the Godwin Hall parking lot at the stoplight and proceed straight ahead on Carrier Drive. Once crossing the overpass bridge, you will pass by three parking lots before seeing the field hockey complex on your left. Parking is in Lot C-12 beyond the stop light right past the complex.
