HARRISONBURG, Va., Jan. 31, 2008 -- Senior guard Tamera Young (Wilmington, N.C./Laney) and freshman center Lauren Jimenez (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) scored 20 points each as the Dukes beat George Mason 81-61 in Colonial Athletic Association women's basketball Thursday evening at the JMU Convocation Center. JMU has won three straight and four out of its last five games. The Dukes improved to 13-6 overall and 6-2 in the CAA.This is their seventh consecutive win over the Patriots.
Mason is 8-11 overall and 2-6 in the conference.The Patriots are now 1-8 on the road this season. Freshman point guard Dawn Evans (Clarksville, Tenn./Northeast), who returned after missing four games to a foot injury, added 10 points for the Dukes.
Also scoring in double figures was junior forward Nina Uqdah (Lanham, Md./Riverdale Baptist), who tied her career-high with 10.She finished with a game-high nine rebounds.
Young also had five rebounds and a game-high six assists. Jimenez's 20 points tied her career-high.She was 9-for-12 from the field and also tied her career-high with eight rebounds. GMU was led by >
