HARRISONBURG, Va., Jan. 22, 2009 -- James Madison sophomore guard Dawn Evans (Clarksville, Tenn./Northeast) tallied a career-high 11 assists and a team-high 18 points to lead the Dukes to a 70-65 win over George Mason in Colonial Athletic Association women's basketball Thursday evening at the JMU Convocation Center Center.
The victory was JMU's ninth win in its last 10 games. The Dukes increased their overall record to 12-5 and 5-1 in the conference.
The Patriots dropped their seventh straight, falling to 2-15 overall and remaining winless (0-6) in the CAA.
In her first career double-double JMU sophomore forward/center Jalissa Taylor (Chesterfield, Va./L.C. Bird) finished with 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, tying her career-highs in both categories. Evans and Taylor were joined in double figures by redshirt junior guard Sarah Williams (Wilmington, Del./Ursuline Academy), who scored 10.
