#10 WOMEN'S LACROSSE TOPS DREXEL 19-7

HARRISONBURG, Va., April 16, 2010 -- No. 10 James Madison got four goals each from sophomore Ashley Kimener (Oakton, Va./Oakton) and junior Mary Kate Lomady (Abington, Pa./Abington) as the Dukes beat Drexel 19-7 in Colonial Athletic Association women's lacrosse Friday evening at the JMU Lacrosse Complex.
JMU improved to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in CAA play as the Dukes posted their third straight win. Drexel dropped to 9-4 overall and 1-2 in league play.
The Dukes' win, combined with 16th-ranked Hofstra's 12-9 victory at George Mason Friday night, set up a showdown between the top two teams in the CAA standings. JMU hosts the Pride at 1 p.m. Sunday. Drexel's next match is at George Mason Sunday.
JMU scored on its first shot of the game and never trailed in the contest. Holding a slim 3-2 lead 10 minutes into the opening period, the Dukes scored five of the game's next six goals to build an 8-3 advantage with 8:00 to go. Lomady scored twice and Kimener once during that run.
Drexel twice got within four goals (8-4) when senior Becca Drylie-Perkins (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) scored with 45 seconds left in the half but the Dragons got no closer the rest of the way.
Other multiple-goal scorers for the Dukes were redshirt senior Kim Griffin (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford)and sophomore Caitlin McHugh (Westminster, Md./Mercy), each with three, and redshirt freshman Casey Ancarrow (Jarrettsville, Md./John Carroll) with two. Ancarrow also contributed two assists.
Drexel was led in scoring by Drylie-Perkins with three goals and senior Nicole Musto (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) with two.
JMU senior goalkeeper Morgan Kelly (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) started the game and finished with two saves in just over 44 minutes of play. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Alisa Konishi (Littleton, Colo./J.K. Mullen) finished out the match and also made two stops.
Drexel junior goalkeeper Whitney Johnson (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) made eight saves in 36:41, and senior goalkeeper Rachael Behrndt (Glenmoore, Pa./Downingtown East) had four saves in 23:19.
NOTE: Kimener's four goals was a career-high.
