DAVIDSON, N.C. – The James Madison field hockey team won its seventh non-conference game and eighth overall (8-3, 1-1 CAA) on Wednesday evening, earning a 2-1 win at Davidson (2-10, 1-2 A-10) on the road.

Dana Allaband (Elkton, Md./Rising Sun) fired in her first goal of the season to give JMU a 2-0 lead.
The Wildcats, however, were awarded a penalty stroke 50 seconds later and successfully converted the opportunity to cut the JMU lead in half (2-1). After a JMU timeout, the Dukes were again able to gain control on offense, firing off three shots over the final five minutes of play and earning the 2-1 win.
JMU took 17 shots during the game with 11 shots-on-goal while Davidson took two shots with one on goal. Freshman goalkeeper
Sara Kraeutler (Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Township) earned the win (3-1) after allowing no goals during her time in the cage while Davidson's Emily Leytham tallied the loss (2-10) after allowing two goals and making nine saves.

Adrienne le Vatte (Port Elizabeth, South Africa/Alexander Road) posted the first goal of the day for JMU, giving the Dukes to a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute of play. She dribbled down the end line, beating the defense and goalkeeper to put the ball away near the right post. JMU outshot Davidson 6-0 over the first 35 minutes of play, with the lone shot-on-goal finding the cage.
The Dukes earned five corners in the game, holding a 5-1 edge on the Wildcats overall.
The Dukes return home on Sunday, Oct. 12 for a 2 p.m. conference game as they host CAA-foe William and Mary at the JMU Field Hockey Complex for Senior Day. The game will be broadcast on MadiZONE HD SportsNet, presented by the JMU Alumni Association.
