HARRISONBURG, Va. – On Sunday, February 22, James Madison athletics celebrates National Girls & Women in Sports Day with a two-hour clinic led by JMU female student-athletes.
Open to girls from kindergarten to eighth grade, attendees will participate in various activities before attending JMU women's basketball's annual Play 4Kay game against Hofstra. At the clinic, participants will be able to interact with members from JMU's volleyball, women's soccer, women's tennis, field hockey, and track& field teams. An autograph session with JMU women's basketball team members will take place following the game.
Cost of attendance is $10, which includes an event t-shirt, a ticket to the women's basketball game and a concessions voucher. Check-in begins at 10:45 a.m. at Godwin Hall, located on JMU's campus, with the clinic beginning at 11:15 a.m. Each participant is required to have a guardian present for the duration of the event.Â
Registration is required by Sunday, February 15 at 5 p.m. and can be done by clicking here or visiting the women's basketball single-games page at JMUSports.com/tickets. Additional tickets may be purchased for $5 per ticket and additional concessions vouchers are available for $5 per voucher.
National Girls & Women in Sports Day is in its 29th year of honoring the accomplishments of female athletes and encouraging continued participation in sports by girls and women. The celebration began in 1987 as a single event to honor former Olympic volleyball player Flo Hyman and has grown to encompass ceremonies and activities across all 50 states. For information on NGWSD, visit www.aahperd.org/gws/.

Girl Scout Day JMU athletics also hosts Girl Scout Day at the women's basketball game versus Hofstra on Sunday, February 22.
Girl scouts receive free admission to the game if they wear their girl scout vest or sash. They will also receive a JMU scouting patch.
Those accompanying a girl scout may purchase game tickets for $5 per ticket. Concessions vouchers will be also be available for purchase at the game. Please enter through the E Door of the JMU Convocation Center upon arriving at the game.  Play 4Kay JMU women's basketball hosts Hofstra in its annual Play 4Kay game in honor of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
