TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – James Madison women's cross country finished 35th at Pre-Nationals, a meet featuring some of the top teams in the country, on Saturday at the 6K LaVern Gibson Championship Course.
Seven of the 42 teams that competed in the Blue Race with JMU are ranked in the USTFCCCA Top 30 national poll. JMU collected 815 points from its top five runners.
Senior
Carol Strock was the lone top-100 finisher for the Dukes, coming in 72nd place with a time of 21:12.0. Junior
Nora Raher completed the course in 21:45.4, good for 132nd in the 285-runner field.
JMU rounded out its scoring with sophomore
Olivia Viparina (168th – 21:56.8), senior
Tessa Mundell (187th – 22:05.1) and freshman
Caitlin Swanson (256th – 23:04.1).
The Dukes also had three runners in the Open Race, highlighted by freshman
Emily Murphy running the 6K in 22:50.8, good for 25
th out of 101 runners.
Colorado won the Women's Blue Race title with 93 points. Michigan's Erin Finn won the individual title with a time of 19:44.7

"It was an extremely great field and the race went out very fast. We didn't get out well, but we really moved up from 2K to 5K, but that took too much out of us and we fell apart in the last 1,000. I loved our effort, we just need to be more committed earlier at the start."
