NEW MARKET, Va. – On a cloudy morning, James Madison cross country hosted their annual JMU Invitational at New Market Battlefield. Hosting at the site of the CAA Championship for this season, four other Colonial Athletic Association teams were present.

JMU finished third out of the six teams with 67 points. Elon won the event with 32 points, Delaware was second with 41. Following JMU was Towson (109), College of Charleston (138) and VMI (157).

Early in the race, a large front pack stuck together through the 1M mark with 18 runners within two seconds of each other and 8 within one second. Elon's Scolasticah Kemei split apart from the park at the 3.5K mark and continued in front as she won the women's 6K. Webb was able to stay within the top-10 throughout the race finishing sixth.

Brooke Manion and
Caitlin Swanson sat solidly in the middle of the pack to start. They both moved up past runners when they hit the 3.5 mark. Both finished in the top-15 to help JMU finish third.
Sinead Sargeant moved past nine runner in the final stretch to hit a personal best time in the race.

MEET NOTES
- Six straight years of finishing top-3 at the JMU Invitational
- JMU has finished in the Top-3 at the JMU Invitational every year of hosting the event since 2002 (the event was not run in 2013)
- Second meet with Laura Webb leading the way for JMU
- This was the first collegiate 6K for Webb, Hesler, Keady, Watkins, Hudak, Morelli and Dunlop.
- Brooke Manion set a new personal record, which she had last set at the CAA Championship last year
- Sinead Sargeant also set a new personal best 6K time. Her previous record was set last season at the CAA Championship
- The Dukes defeated Towson and College of Charleston of CAA teams present
- The CAA Championship is set to be run at New Market on November 2, 2019.
