Harrisonburg, Va. – Dukes Unite, the fundraising campaign launched by James Madison Athletics on October 1, turns its focus to a
virtual ticket initiative with the goal to "sell out" or fill all of JMU's athletics venues to capacity.
Donations during the
virtual sellout portion of the campaign will take the form of a $10 "ticket" to one of JMU's 10 different venues. While not an actual ticket to a real event, the initiative is intended as a fun way for participants to direct their virtual tickets in support of different areas of interest while overall supporting the Duke Club's Proud and True Fund and to allow fans to see progress over the course of the "sellout" initiative with periodic departmental updates. All 18 JMU sports and cheerleading are represented.
A supporter purchasing five virtual tickets is the equivalent of a $50 donation to the Proud and True Fund.
"Tickets" can be purchased to the following JMU Athletics venues:
- Atlantic Union Bank Center (basketball and cheerleading)
- Bridgeforth Stadium (football and cheerleading)
- Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park (baseball)
- Golf Course
- Hillside Tennis Courts
- JMU Field Hockey Complex
- Savage Natatorium (swimming & diving)
- Sinclair Gymnasium (volleyball)
- Sentara Park (cross country, lacrosse, soccer, track & field)
- Veterans Memorial Park (softball)
A virtual sellout of all 10 venues would be the equivalent of 41,000 tickets or $410,000 towards overall campaign fundraising.
The Dukes Unite campaign launched October 1 with the goal of helping JMU Athletics to combat revenue shortfalls and unanticipated elevated expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The campaign has focused on a variety of stories related to JMU's overall competitive excellence, support structure, alumni and letterwinner success stories and more. These stories can be viewed with the
#DukesUnite hashtag. Fundraising efforts support the department to maintain its high level of competitive success and holistic approach to the student-athlete experience into the future beyond the impact of the pandemic.
