EDISTO BEACH, S.C. - The James Madison women's golf team climbed into fifth place on Tuesday afternoon as the Dukes closed out play at the Edisto Island Invitational, hosted by College of Charleston at the par-71, 5,980-yard Plantation Course at Edisto.
Redshirt sophomore
Kendall Turner led the way for the Dukes, tying for fifth place among 68 players with a final score of even-par 213 (71-70-72), marking the third top-five finish of her career. She also notched the 14th and 15th rounds of par-or-better in her career, moving her into a tie for third all-time at JMU.
As a team, the Dukes battled their way into the top five on the final day, carding 291-292-294 on the week to finish just six shots behind fourth-place Jacksonville on the 11-team leaderboard.
Redshirt junior
Kate Owens continued her strong play, finishing in a tie for 11th after climbing 13 spots with a final-round 69 (-3) to close her week at 216 (76-71-69).
Sophomore
Amelia Willams tied for 30th on the week at 224 (+11, 72-74-78), while freshman
Tatum Walsh was just behind in a tie for 38th (227) and redshirt sophomore
Ana Tsiros closed out the scoring in a tie for 41st at 228 (73-77-78).
Playing as an individual, freshman
Kayleigh Reinke tied for 30th as well, going lower every round on her way to a final 224 (+11, 77-75-72).

The Dukes will be back in action later this week, travelling to Lakewood Ranch G&CC on Oct. 16-18 to take part in the Pat Bradley Invitational. GolfStat will provide live results of the event.
