Kendall Turner led the way on Tuesday as the James Madison women's golf team closed out a ninth-place finish at the Kiawah Island Classic, hosted by College of Charleston at the historic Kiawah Island Resort.

Williams wrapped up her week tied for 12th among 210 players, firing her third straight round of 74 (+2) to close the weekend at 222 (+6), just one shot away from her first collegiate top 10. Turner matched Williams with her own 74 that put her tied for 36th at 226 (+10).

As a team, the Dukes posted a final-day 303 on the par-72, 5,991-yard Cougar Point Course to climb to ninth in a 41-team field, rising two more spots on the leaderboard and 11 total places from their first-round position.

Redshirt sophomores
Carly Lyvers and
Kate Owens also cracked the top 70, with Lyvers carding a final-round 77 to tie for 62nd and Owens one shot behind in a tie for 68th after a Tuesday 78. Freshman
Haley Quickel closed out the JMU scoring with an 81 and tied for 183rd.

"I'm really proud of the way we played this week. We could have kept struggling a little bit after a hard first day, but we really buckled down and closed strong with a top-10 finish. We have a lot of good to build on as we get ready for next week."

The Dukes will be back in action this coming week, travelling to River Landing Golf Club on March 8-9 to compete in the River Landing Classic.
