ELON, N.C. – James Madison men's soccer won its third straight game, defeating Elon, 2-0, on Saturday night after an early goal in the ninth minute and another goal in the 82
nd minute at Rudd Field.

The Dukes move to 7-2 and 3-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play, while Elon drops to 4-4, 2-1 CAA.

JMU was able to get on the board early in the ninth minute on a goal from
Clay Obara.
Melker Anshelm brought the ball into the Elon side of the ball before striking a long pass down into the 18-foot box where
Josiah Blanton gave it one touch to Obara who found the back of the net to put the Dukes up 1-0.

The Dukes were able to control the tempo of the first half after the goal, taking seven shots for a total of nine and putting five on goal. The JMU defense held Elon to only four shots during the opening period, with none being put on goal. The Dukes were able to contain the Phoenix and entered halftime with a 1-0 lead.

The Phoenix made an uptick in their offense during the second half, taking 13 shots in the second half alone. The Dukes' defense continued their hold on Elon's offense as
Martin Leu made four saves and continued to shut out the hosts.

JMU added an insurance goal in the 82
nd minute, as
Luca Erhardt buried his fourth goal of the season off of
Rodrigo Robles' sixth assist of the season to give JMU a 2-0 lead. Robles has now recorded as many assists in a single-season for the Dukes since Billy Metzler had six assists in 2016.

The Dukes held on and took the contest, 2-0, for their third consecutive win.
