- James Madison will head to Williamsburg on Saturday to battle the Tribe of William & Mary at 4 p.m., as the Dukes look to build upon one of its most successful starts in program history. JMU has started 10-3 for the first time since 2015-16.
- The Dukes are coming off an 89-66 home victory against Northeastern on Tuesday, their largest margin of victory over the Huskies ever. Redshirt junior Vado Morse led the way with 20 points, the sixth 20+-point performance in his 31-game JMU career.
- JMU is playing just its third true road game of the season and its first since Nov. 28 at Florida Atlantic. The Dukes won both of their previous away matchups, and have not started 3-0 on the road since the 1981-82 season.
- James Madison ranks 26th in the nation with a .484 field goal percentage. The Dukes posted their second-best FG% of the season against Northeastern, making 29-of-49 attempts (.592), and have shot better than 50% in each of its last three games.
- Among players with at least 50 field goal attempts, four Dukes - graduate transfer Alonzo Sule (.682), redshirt freshman Justin Amadi (.618), redshirt freshman Terell Strickland (.564), and redshirt junior Jalen Hodge (.509) - are all shooting at least 50% from the field. Sule's current percentage ranks second all-time in JMU history and fifth-highest in the country.
- The Dukes swiped 10 more steals against Northeastern, bringing their season total to 131, which is tied for 34th in the country. JMU's 10.1 steals per game ranks 11th in Division I and the Dukes have at least 10 steals in seven games this season.
- Graduate student Charles Falden is a perfect 5-for-5 from three in league play, and is shooting .481 (25-for-52) from distance.
- JMU shot 95% from the free-throw line on Tuesday for the first time since Feb. 20, 2003.
SCOUTING THE TRIBE
- William & Mary did not have a Division I win on its resume in non-conference play, but rebounded to start league play with wins over Hofstra and Northeastern. The Tribe have not played since Dec. 31, as their most recent scheduled matchup was postponed.
- Sophomore Connor Kochera leads the Tribe on offense with 11.4 points per game, while classmate Ben Wight averages 11.0. Wight also leads W&M in field goal percentage (.614) and total rebounds (86).
- W&M averages 17.5 turnovers per game, fourth-most in Division 1.
SERIES HISTORY
- JMU has faced W&M 100 times, more than any other program the Dukes' history, playing the first 100 matchups to a 50-50 split.
- The Tribe come into Saturday's matchup having won six straight against the Dukes. JMU's last win in the series came on Feb. 16, 2017, and the Dukes have not won on the road since March 2, 2013, when A.J. Davis' 36 points helped lead a 19-point JMU comeback.
- James Madison holds the longest win streak in the series, winning 18 consecutive times from 1988-1995.
