ELON, N.C. - James Madison could not stem the tide of a three-point barrage from Elon on Monday evening, dropping a 90-67 decision to the Phoenix in men's basketball action at the Schar Center.
The Dukes (11-4, 2-2) started slowly for the second straight game, but could not dig out of the hole this time, as Elon (5-13, 2-3) made 17 three-pointers, including 12 in the first half, to storm out to an early lead and keep JMU at bay.
Graduate student
Takal Molson led the Dukes with his second double-double of the season, tallying 19 points and 10 rebounds. Redshirt freshman
Terrence Edwards added a career-high 17 points in just 22 minutes, while redshirt junior

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
Elon jumped out immediately, hitting 10 of its first 15 shots and 14 of its first 20. The Phoenix made nine of its 14 three-point attempts across that span to put JMU in a 37-19 hole after just 13:42. JMU would score 10 straight points late in the opening half, but Elon hit a 12th three at the horn to take a 46-31 advantage into the break.
Second Half
The Dukes tried to chip away at Elon's lead early in the second period, cutting the advantage to 12 on two occasions, but the Phoenix erupted for 17 straight points across the middle of the half. The run was capped by two technical fouls on JMU, pushing the lead to 75-46 and put things out of reach. JMU would not cut the lead below 21 the rest of the way.
