HARRISONBURG, Va. — The James Madison women's basketball team topped Elon 59-57 Sunday afternoon at the Atlantic Union Bank Center for their third-straight win. The Dukes improve to 6-7 (2-0 CAA) while the Phoenix drop to 8-4 (0-2 CAA).

Kiki Jefferson finished just shy of a double-double with a game-high 22 points and nine rebounds.
Annalicia Goodman registered her second-straight double-double with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Dukes held a 45-25 advantage on the boards, which is the largest rebounding margin for JMU so far this season. James Madison pulled down 15 offensive rebounds to record 18 second-chance points.

First Quarter: JMU 17, Elon 13
- The Dukes were up 10-6 after the first five minutes of action, but Elon went on a 5-0 run as JMU committed four turnovers in the span of two minutes to give the Phoenix an 11-10 edge.
- The teams traded baskets before a layup by Neff and a
Brianna Tinsley three-pointer put JMU up 17-13 at the end of the first.
Second Quarter: JMU 33, Elon 28
- The Dukes attempted to distance themselves in the second quarter, but Elon kept chipping away at the lead and never let JMU go up by more than seven points.
- Tinsley caught a spark during the second frame as she shot 2-for-3 from the floor and grabbed two rebounds for the Dukes.

Third Quarter: JMU 40, Elon 39
- Elon both outscored (11-7) and outrebounded (13-12) JMU following the break.
- The Dukes didn't register a field goal until the 5:06 mark when Green connected with Jefferson on the block for an easy layup. Â
- A 6-0 run by the Phoenix put Elon up by three with 1:45 to go, but a pair of layup by Jefferson and Goodman gave JMU a one-point lead heading into the final stanza. Â
Fourth Quarter: JMU 59, Elon 57
- Back-to-back layups gave Elon a 43-42 lead at the 7:20 mark. However, Neff quickly responded with a trey to put JMU up by two.
- The Dukes held a five-point lead with 1:17 left to play, but the Phoenix used a layup followed by a three-pointer with 10 seconds on the clock to bring Elon within one point.
- Jefferson knocked down a pair of free throws after being fouled with three seconds left to give JMU a 59-56 lead.
- Elon was fouled on a three-point attempt in the final seconds, giving them a chance to tie it at the foul line. However, the Phoenix hit just 1-of-3 free throws as the Dukes slipped away with the win.
