LOUISVILLE – Junior
Miranda Stanhope finished 48th in 21:20.7 as the Dukes placed 19th out of 32 scoring teams at the NCAA Southeast Regional at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park Friday morning.
James Madison tallied 577 points in the 6K race, 36 points behind 18th-place Clemson. N.C. State (25) and North Carolina (76) earned automatic bids to the NCAA Championships.
How It Happened
- The Dukes were in 25th at the 1K split with Stanhope leading the way with a time of 3:38.5.
- JMU slowly began to move up, creeping into 22nd with sophomore Sofia Terenziani rounding out the team's scorers with an 11:17.3 3K split time.
- James Madison was 20th at the 4K mark with an average time of 15:07, paced by Stanhope at 14:19.3.
- Stanhope continued to gain ground, finishing 48th in 21:20.7, followed by freshman Gabriella Garcia (100th – 22:20.2) and senior Maddy Hesler (136th – 22:57.9).
- Senior Clare Morelli (146th – 23:15.5) and Faithe Ketchum (147th – 23:15.5) concluded JMU's top five scorers.

Meet Notes
- Stanhope finished in the top 50 at the NCAA Southeast Regional for the second consecutive year. Last fall, the Kinsman, Ohio native placed 28th in 20:58.9. Additionally, the junior has been the top finisher for James Madison in every meet she's competed in dating back to the Spring 2021 season.
- The team posted an average time of 22:38 with a 1:55 spread among scorers.
- JMU was the highest-finishing Sun Belt team at the meet, with Coastal Carolina placing 25th with 691 points.
- Garcia made the biggest jump for the Dukes between the 1K split and finish, moving from 191st to 100th.
- This is the third consecutive regional meet in which JMU has finished in the top 20 as a team. The program finished 19th last year with 485 points.
