SOUTHPORT, N.C. - Sophomore
Amelia Williams notched her third top-10 finish of the year as the James Madison women's golf team wrapped up its 2021-22 campaign at the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Championship, hosted at the par-72, 5,998-yard Reserve Club at St. James Plantation.
Williams was steady throughout the weekend, posting rounds of 74-76-75 to tie for sixth among 40 competitors. The performance is her second top 10 of the spring after winning the River Landing Classic in March.
Redshirt sophomore
Kendall Turner was just three shots behind Williams, tying for 11th with rounds of 76-75-77, while redshirt junior
Kate Owens improved each day to finish tied for 17th, two strokes back at 230 (79-76-75).
Freshman
Kayleigh Reinke (81-76-74) tied for 20th in her first conference championship action, while senior
Carly Lyvers capped the JMU scoring in a tie for 26th with a weekend of 80-78-76.
The Dukes were ineligible to compete for the team championship following a vote by the league's Board of Directors in November.
NOTES FROM THE COURSE
- The Dukes will close their 2021-22 season with a 293.03 (+5.43) team scoring average, shattering last year's program record of 301.52 (+13.52).
- With six birdies this weekend, redshirt junior
Kate Owens finishes the season with 88 to set a new program record of her own.
