GULFPORT, Miss. – The James Madison women's golf team advanced to the championship of the Great River Cup but fell to ULM on the second hole of a tiebreaker for the title Tuesday at the par-72, 6,103-yard Windance Country Club.Â
After JMU advanced to the match play title with a tie with Houston Christian and win over Memphis, the Dukes faced Sun Belt Conference foe ULM for the championship. The match went into a tiebreaker as JMU and ULM concluded their round tied 2-1-2. The first hole of the playoffs remained in a tie, but the Warhawks were able to eventually break the tie on the second hole of the tiebreaker.Â
Amber Mackiewicz picked up a 4&3 win over Sara Hagglund with an eagle on the 17th hole and
Kendall Turner tallied four birdies to close her round with a 1&0 win over Alessia Mengoni. Turner shot a two-under 70 to pace JMU, whileÂ
Kayleigh Reinke recorded a birdie on the first hole and led for 16 holes against Daniela Campillo, but the match ended in a tie.Â

In the first round against Houston Christian,Â
Amelia Williams and Turner earned wins for the Dukes. Turner eagled the seventh hole and added two birdies in her 2&1 win over Jackie Nguyen.  Williams took a 9&8 win over Lucia Allub, notching birdies on holes three and 10 for a two-under par score through 10 holes.
Maria Atwood tied Rocio Comparini, collecting a birdie and shooting a 77.Â

The Dukes took four-of-five of the match play rounds against Memphis. After Monday's first round was suspended due to darkness, action resumed 7:15 a.m. Tuesday. Each James Madison golfer recorded at least one birdie en route to a 4-0-1 victory. Turner led the way with three birdies, taking down Tilly Garfoot 3&2.  picked up two early birdies on holes one and three, and earned a 4&3 win over Nutsanun Khamphueng.  Williams birdied holes nine and 12, defeating Rebecca Brink, while
Kayleigh Reinke collected her birdie on hole 10 over Julia Jarvholm. Atwood shot her birdie on hole three, but Emily Wilson was able to come away with HCU's lone win.
Tatum Walsh competed over the course of the two days in Mississippi as an individual. She won two of her match play cards with a 7&6 win over ULM's Sarah Knight, and was four up through 10 versus Sydney Moss from Memphis.Â

JMU finished second in the Great River Cup, while Turner's performance included an eagle and nine birdies in 51 holes played.
