CLEVELAND –
Ava Drexler-Amey of James Madison field hockey was named the Week Nine Co-Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the Mid-American Conference on Wednesday afternoon.
The award is the second for the midfielder this season after being voted the outright Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 23. Meanwhile, four Dukes have picked up a weekly laurel from the MAC in the 2025 season.
This past weekend, the junior registered the game-winning goal for the Dukes in a thrilling 3-2 double-overtime victory over Kent State on Sunday. The score marked the third goal of her career, and the first golden goal of her career.
Drexler-Amey and the JMU defense held the Golden Flashes scoreless in the first half, limiting KSU to one shot in the opening thirty minutes for the Dukes' 12th first-half shutout of the season.
Up next, JMU will welcome MAC-foe Ohio for Senior Day on Friday, Oct. 31. The Halloween tilt is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.
