HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison men's basketball has added a versatile wing to its 2026-27 roster, as Head Coach
Preston Spradlin announced the signing of AJ Evans to an aid agreement on Friday.
The 6-foot-9 forward is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he competed at Xavier High School. Evans will enroll at JMU in the summer of 2026 and will begin play at JMU during the 2026-27 season.
"We are thrilled to welcome AJ to our basketball family!" Spradlin said. "He is an incredibly well-rounded individual who will be a terrific addition to our entire university both on and off the court. As a player, AJ has the size and athleticism to make an immediate impact in the Sun Belt. As a two-sport star who is competing for state championships in both football and basketball, his work ethic and toughness will enhance our culture. Academically, AJ will excel on our campus as he earns his degree from JMU."
