Three Dukes Set for U-21 Junior Women’s National Team Selection Camp

COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. – James Madison field hockey will be well-represented at the U-21 Junior Women's National Team Selection Camp, with Ava Drexler-Amey, Brynna Hill and Kenzie King competing at the event at Charlotte, Dec. 19-21.
The trio earned invitations to attend the camp after their performances during this summer's Junior and Senior Nexus Championships at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center.
Athletes remaining U-21 eligible who competed in the JWC will return to join U-21 Selection Camps in January. The 2025-26 U-21 USWNT will compete in the Junior Pan American Championship, a Junior World Cup qualifying event, in Santiago Chile from April 7 to 18.
Drexler-Amey is coming off a junior season that saw her garner All-MAC Second Team Honors after helping turn away 112-of-135 (.830) penalty corners, while adding two goals for four points. The Severna Park, Md. native started all 20 games and was named Mid-American Defensive Player of the Week twice.
Hill wrapped up her junior campaign tied for third on the team in assists (5) and tied for fourth in points (11). The midfielder also started all 20 games, posting seven points (3g, 1a) in the final five contests this past season.
King played in all 20 games as a freshman, playing a role in the Dukes' defensive penalty corner unit. The Charlottesville, Va. native was named the 2024 Central Virginia Field Hockey Player of the Year, tallying 40 goals and 15 assists at Albermarle High School as a senior.
