JMU Heads to Coastal to Take on Chanticleers Saturday Afternoon
- James Madison men's basketball will take a six-game Sun Belt Conference winning streak to Conway, S.C., for a matchup Coastal Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m.Â
- JMU won its sixth straight conference game on Thursday, defeating Georgia Southern 77-72 behind 26 points from Mark Freeman to remain in a tie for second in the Sun Belt standings.Â
- The Dukes knocked down 13 three-pointers, tying a season-high. Xavier Brown recorded a career-high six made threes and finished with 18 points and six rebounds, while Bryce Lindsay tallied 14 points.
- Coastal Carolina has dropped 11 straight games and enters this contest with a record of 8-18 overall and 1-12 in Sun Belt play. The Chanticleers fell 64-46 to App State on Thursday.Â

- James Madison redshirt senior Mark Freeman scored 26 points to lead James Madison men's basketball past Georgia Southern, 77-72, on Thursday night at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center.
- JMU improved to 16-10 and 9-4 in Sun Belt Conference play, winning its sixth consecutive conference game. Georgia Southern dropped to 13-13 and 5-8 in league games, dropping its third home contest (8-3) this season.
- Freeman was one of three JMU players to finish in double figures, as the native of Memphis finished an efficient 10-of-16 (.625) from the field. The Dukes shot 48.2 percent from the floor and knocked down 13 three-pointers in the win – led by a career-high six made threes from Xavier Brown.
- Redshirt freshman Bryce Lindsay added 14 points for his eighth double-figure showing in the past nine games.
- Adante Holiman led Georgia Southern (13-13, 5-8 SBC) with 22 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including six three-pointers. Tyson Brown led the Eagles with 11 boards while pitching in eight points, and Nakavieon White dished out a team-high five assists.

- Freeman's 29 points came on 10-of-17 shooting and was the third time the native of Memphis has scored 25 or more points this season. JMU (13-9, 6-4 SBC) finished with a season-low two turnovers and out-rebounded Coastal Carolina (8-14, 1-9 SBC) 34-31.
- Aiding in the scoring effort for the Dukes was Elijah Hutchins-Everett, who tallied 11 points and five rebounds. Xavier Brown and Bryce Lindsay added nine points each, while AJ Smith grabbed eight rebounds.
- RaSheed Jones and Jordan Battle finished with 17 points to lead CCU, who finished with only five assists on 20 made field goals. Battle also led the Chanticleers with nine rebounds while adding nine points.
