DUKES VISIT ULM FOR TUESDAY TILT WITH WARHAWKS
- James Madison, winners of nine straight Sun Belt Conference games, will begin the final week of the regular season with a trip to Monroe, La., to take on ULM on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. ET (6:30 p.m. CT).Â
- JMU sits in sole possession of first place in the league standings with two games left to play at 12-4 - one game ahead of Arkansas State, South Alabama, and Troy, who are all 11-5. App State and Marshall sit in fifth and sixth place, respectively, at 10-6.Â
- ULM comes into Tuesday's game with a record of 7-22 and 3-13 in league play. The Warhawks fell 95-70 to Arkansas State on Saturday and 80-63 at Texas State last week.Â
- The game will broadcast on ESPN+ with Sean Fox (PxP) and Mike Vinning (color). Dave Riggert will provide radio coverage on WSVA 92.1 FM (550 AM) and the Varsity Network App, with coverage beginning 30 minutes before tip.
WHAT'SÂ AT STAKE?
- With a week left in the regular season, just two games separate the top six teams in the Sun Belt standings.Â
- With a win, JMU would clinch a top-two seed in the Sun Belt Conference tournament, where the top two seeds advance to Sunday's semifinals. It would be just the second time in program history to reach conference semifinals in three consecutive years (1992-1995).
- A win over ULM would also secure a 20-win season for JMU for the third consecutive season for the first time since 1991-94 under the late Lefty Driesell.Â
- The Dukes last won a regular season conference crown in 2021 as members of the Colonial Athletic Association and 10 times in program history.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP
- JMU and ULM have met two times, with the Dukes taking both games.Â
- This will be JMU's first trip to Monroe after the first two matchups occurred in Harrisonburg. In the inaugural meeting, the Dukes came away with a 58-45 win over the Warhawks on Jan. 28, 2023. Last season, JMU defeated ULM 89-70 on Jan. 18, 2024.Â
LINDSAY APPROACHING JMU FRESHMAN RECORD IN THREES
- JMU redshirt freshman Bryce Lindsay comes into Tuesday's contest with 77 three-pointers made in the 2024-25 season. He is now three threes away from tying the JMU freshman record in made threes (80), set by Kent Culuko in the 1991-92 season.
- Since Lindsay entered the starting lineup for JMU on Jan. 22 at Old Dominion, the Dukes are 9-1 while Lindsay is averaging 15.4 points per game and has scored in double figures in all but one game.
- Lindsay currently leads the Sun Belt in three-point percentage (.418) while tied for third in threes per game (2.8) and fourth in made threes (77).Â
DUKES REACH 10 WINS FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE SEASON, APPROACHING 20 OVERALL
- JMU's win at Coastal on Saturday, Feb. 15 marked the Dukes' 10th in Sun Belt play this season, marking the first time the men's basketball program has won 10 or more conference games in three consecutive seasons since 1991-94.
- In the past three seasons, the Dukes are 49-13 (.790) in conference play and own the best overall winning percentage (.742) since joining the league in 2022.Â
- If the Dukes reach 20 wins, it will also be the first time since 1991-94 that JMU has reached that milestone in three consecutive seasons.Â
- JMU also clinched a winning season last Saturday at Coastal, the first time the program has achieved a winning season in five straight seasons since 1988-95 under Lefty Driesell.Â
SPRADLIN KNOWS SUCCESS
- Head Coach Preston Spradlin now owns the second-most wins by a first-year JMU head coach (19). The record for most wins in JMU coach's first year is Matt Brady, who won 21 games in 2008-09.Â
- As a head coach overall, Spradlin has won 20+ games in each of his last four seasons - going back to his time at Morehead State. Since the beginning of the 2020-21 season, he owns a record of 113-50 (.693) with two regular season and conference tournament championships and two trips to the NCAA Tournament.Â
MAGIC NUMBER: 70
- Through 29 games of the season, JMU is averaging 73.3 points per game. After posting 83 points against Georgia State on Thursday and 78 against Georgia Southern on Saturday, the Dukes are now 15-1 when scoring 70 or more this season, its lone loss coming to Marshall (80-78) on Jan. 9.Â
- On the flip side, JMU is just 4-9 when scoring less than 70 points. JMU's 64-61 win over Troy was the least amount of points scored in a win this season. The Dukes also defeated Arkansas State 67-62 and Marshall 67-64 on for their other two wins when scoring less than 70.Â
- Defensively, JMU is 13-3 this season when holding opponents under 70 points - its losses coming to Towson (67-63), George Mason (66-61), and App State (58-50).

- JMU finished with a season-low two turnovers against Coastal Carolina on Jan. 30 as the Dukes came away with a 73-64 win.Â
- In the second half of Thursday's game against Georgia State, the Dukes recorded zero turnovers for the first time this season.Â
- JMU has recorded single-digit turnovers and forced 10 or more in three straight games as of Feb. 24.Â
DUKES ONE OF THREE TEAMS FIRST IN MEN'S AND WOMEN'S HOOPS
- James Madison men's basketball currently sits alone in first in the Sun Belt standings with a record of 12-4 while the women's team is 16-0 and have won 17 straight games - clinching the regular season conference championship.Â
- The combined winning percentage of 87.5 is by far the best in the Sun Belt Conference.Â
- JMU is one of three teams nationally that are in first place in men's and women's basketball, joining High Point (Big South), and Norfolk State (Mid-Eastern).
