Epke Named IWLCA First Team All-Region, Takes Home ILWomen All-America Honors

James Madison lacrosse attacker Maddie Epke was selected to the IWLCA First Team All-Region and tabbed a Nike Lacrosse Media First Team All-American by ILWomen, the organizations both announced Friday.
Epke is one of 32 athletes from across the South Region selected to the two teams. She has taken honors from the outlet for the second consecutive year, as she made the First Team in 2024. The laurel also marks five straight years of at least one Duke being selected to one of the All-Region teams.

The All-American nod from ILWomen is Epke's second this postseason, with the previous coming from USA Lacrosse last week. As a sophomore, Epke was named to the All-America Honorable Mention list.

Epke consistently proved herself one of the most dominant players on the field at any time. The attacker was the primary scorer for JMU all season long while sitting best amongst the nation in several statistical categories, ranking second in draw controls per game (12.37), 25th in goals per game (3.42) and 25th in points per game (4.63).

A Tewaaraton Nominee, she was also the unanimous selection for the American Athletic Conference's top attack player after leading JMU in scoring with 65 goals and 23 assists for 88 points. Scoring aside, Epke also set new program and conference records in the circle, as she won a JMU single-season (235), single-game (23 vs. Charlotte on Mar. 29), and AAC tournament single-game (13 vs. Vanderbilt on May 1) while reaching 477Â draw controls for her career. She also outdrew opponents single-handedly in 11 games this season while helping JMU to fourth in draws per game (17.84) and third nationally in draw control percentage (.684). JMU captured its first AAC tournament title at the start of May, with Epke receiving Most Outstanding Player in the tournament.

The Dukes completed the 2025 season 14-5 and reached the NCAA Championship first round.
