Fleet, Edwards Selected to CSC Academic All-District Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. - James Madison softball sophomore duo of Kirsten Fleet and Madison Edwards each earned spots on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® softball team, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon.
This is the first CSC honor for both Fleet and Edwards and the third-straight year a Duke has been featured on the team.
Fleet, a kinesiology major finished off a strong campaign in the circle and in the classroom, boasting a 3.6 cumulative grade point average. On the field, the Riner, Va., product led the Dukes' pitching staff and posted career highs in appearances (36), innings pitched (139.0), wins (13) and strikeouts (91). She also threw eight complete games with three shutouts, including back-to-back complete games against Texas State and ULM to propel James Madison to the Sun Belt Conference Championship game.
Edwards is pursuing a degree in sport & recreation management and holds a 3.64 GPA following the end of her sophomore campaign. The two-year starter has played every game at second base for the Dukes since her arrival in 2024. During the 2025 season, she tallied career highs in a multitude of offensive categories and finished with 30 hits, eight doubles, four home runs and 26 runs batted in, along with 10 stolen bases. Defensively, Edwards turned 11 double plays in the middle infield which is tied for ninth in single-season program history.
To gain eligibility, nominees must hold at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or start in at least 66 percent of games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.
