HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison men's soccer has released its 2025 schedule, as announced by Head Coach
Paul Zazenski on Wednesday afternoon.
Â
The Dukes will play a 16-match schedule, hosting nine matches at Sentara Park beginning with their annual Fairfield by Marriott Invitational after last year's hiatus.
Â
"Our fall 2025 schedule once again ranks among the toughest in the nation," said Zazenski. "Five of our seven non-conference opponents earned spots in the 2024 NCAA tournament, underscoring our commitment to challenging ourselves outside of conference play. That commitment continues in 2025 as we prepare to face elite-level competition from the outset."
Â
JMU will kick off the season on Aug. 21, hosting Fordham before playing Gardner-Webb on Aug. 24 as part of the Fairfield by Marriott Invitational. The Dukes will then host Rutgers on Aug. 29 to wrap up the three-match homestand to begin the season.
Â
Following a 10-day break, the Dukes will hit the road for the first time in 2025 as they travel to Georgetown on Sept. 9 before taking on in-state foe Liberty in Lynchburg, Va. on Sept. 13. The non-conference portion of the season will conclude with a pair of home matches, hosting Iona (Sept. 23) and Princeton (Oct. 14).
Â
The Dukes will open Sun Belt Conference play on Sept. 19 to conclude a three-match road trip by traveling to defending champion West Virginia. JMU will go on the road against league opponents four more times, playing Kentucky (Oct. 4) and Georgia State (Oct. 10) back-to-back, splitting four home matches with a match at UCF (Oct. 22) and then concluding the regular season on Nov. 4 at Coastal Carolina.
Â
"Sun Belt Conference play brings its own set of challenges," Zazenski added. "It's a true grind, with the potential for more than half the league to earn NCAA tournament bids in any given year. That level of competition demands our best every time we step on the field."
Â
Sentara Park will feature its first home league match on Sept. 28 when South Carolina comes to town. The Dukes will then host national finalist Marshall on Oct. 18 before playing back-to-back home matches against Georgia Southern (Oct. 26) and Old Dominion (Oct. 31) to close out the home slate.
Â
"We're excited for the opportunity to compete and showcase our program throughout the 2025 campaign," Zazenski said.
