FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast hit a robust .346 as a team to power past James Madison volleyball 3-1 (19-25, 11-25, 25-16, 20-25) on Saturday evening at Alico Arena.

FGCU (1-1) saw three players reach double-digit kills, led by 17 from Barbara Koehler. The Eagles also recorded 11 total blocks, as Abiga Toeniskoetter tallied eight to go along with 10 kills.

JMU (0-2) hit .247, led by 22 kills from
Kennedy Louisell. Freshman
Peri Linterman received the start at middle and finished with eight kills on 12 swings with just one error, hitting .583.

How It Happened
First Set: FGCU 25-19
- A kill from Abigail Toeniskoetter gave the Eagles a 15-10 lead at the media timeout.
- Louisell picked up her seventh kill of the match to bring the Dukes within one (19-18) and force a timeout from FGCU.
- JMU scored one point the rest of the way as FGCU jumped ahead 1-0.

Second Set: FGCU 25-11
- FGCU hit .440 in the second set, finishing with 13 kills and holding JMU to a .065 attack percentage to take the second set in dominating fashion.

Third Set: JMU 25-16
- Linterman registered a kill to give JMU an 8-5 lead early in the third.
- The Dukes scored on seven of 10 rallies in the middle of the set to gain a 19-13 advantage, capped off by a kill from Melisa Ilter.
- JMU closed out a dominant third set win with a kill from Pembroke Pines, Fla., native Sarah Schnell. Â

Fourth Set: FGCU 25-20
- A kill from Julija Cabo gave the home team a 15-12 lead at the first timeout of the set.
- A Louisell kill trimmed the FGCU lead to two (20-18), but the Eagles used a 5-2 run to close out the set and the match win.

- Senior Grace Wenrich finished with a career-high 25 assists to go along with eight digs.
- Through two matches, Louisell has recorded 37 kills at a clip of 5.28 per set.
