Hello and welcome to JMU Track and Field! We appreciate you taking the time to learn more about our university and our program.
James Madison is a medium-sized school with a student body of around 20,000 and is located in one of Virginia’s most beautiful areas, the Shenandoah Valley. JMU has a wide range of degree programs which include Business, Communications, Education, Health Studies, Humanities and Social Science, Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Visual and Performing Arts.
At JMU, the emphasis is on individual attention and commitment to providing an excellent environment for higher education. The faculty to student ratio is 16:1 with an average class size of 25 students. JMU was voted the #1 most recommended public university in the U.S. by the Wall Street Journal and Times Higher Educations. It is also ranked the #1 most innovative university in the south and the #2 public university in the south by U.S. News and World Report. 98% of 2019 JMU graduates were employed, in graduate school or involved in other career endeavors within six months of graduation.
JMU Track and Field/Cross Country is a NCAA Division I school that competes in the Sun Belt Conference. We have had multiple conference champions and NCAA qualifiers. We are also proud to have had two Dukes become Olympians. We will continue to receive national recognition through bringing in talented, coachable, motivated and dedicated athletes. We have outstanding facilities, including a new indoor training facility that will be opening in the fall of 2023. We also boast a committed coaching and support staff. This involves coaches, athletic trainers, strength coaches, sports psychologists, sports nutritionists and academic advisors.
