JMU career assist leader Jess Cichowicz was named the Dukes' director of operations in the summer of 2007.

Cichowicz, a 2003 JMU graduate, was a four-year starter for the Dukes at point guard. She was a member of JMU's 2001 Women's National Invitation Tournament semifinalist team, and the Dukes compiled an overall record of 75-44 during her four seasons on the team. Her senior season was Brooks' first year as JMU head coach.

Cichowicz holds several school records, including career assists (670), season (5.86) and career (5.29) assist average, freshman (131) and sophomore (181) season assists, assists in a game (17) and season steals (82). She is in second place on the career steals list (260) and held the season assist record (194) until it was broken last season by Andrea Benvenuto.

She is a native of Ferntree Gully, Victoria, Australia, and holds a bachelor’s degree in integrated science and technology.
