Scott Brisson is in his first season with the James Madison football program in 2025, as he serves as an offensive analyst.
Brisson, who possesses a decade experience as an offensive coordinator, comes to Harrisonburg after spending the 2024 season at Wake Forest where he was an offensive analyst and assistant quarterbacks coach.
In his lone season in Winston-Salem, he assisted Wake’s offensive coordinator in all aspects of quarterback development. He also oversaw the entire opponent scouting operation and produced comprehensive advance scout for future opponents.
Prior to his year stint at Wake Forest, Brisson spent the 2023 season as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Division II Shippensburg.
Covering a span of nine seasons from 2014 to 2022, Brisson coached at Lehigh, which included his final six seasons as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. During his first three seasons, he led the wide receivers and served as recruiting coordinator.
During his time at Lehigh, he coordinated offenses that produced record-breaking achievements, including the Patriot League’s all-time leading receiver, career rushing and touchdown leaders, and top-ranked passing efficiency leaders. His recruiting efforts led to the development of standout players such as Geoffrey Jamiel, the 2022 Patriot League Rookie of the Year.
Lehigh led the conference in 2019 in pass efficiency and 2018 in passing yards, while his 2017 Patriot League champion offense ranked sixth nationally in total offense, seventh in passing yards, ninth in scoring and 12th in pass efficiency. That team also had seven First Team All-PL selections on offense that season. Additionally, running back Dom Bragalone led the nation in yards and touchdowns and was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year while being a Walter Payton Award finalist and First Team All-American in 2018.
Before taking over the offense and coaching the receivers, Brisson was part of a 2016 Patriot League championship while achieving top national rankings in various offensive categories. That included the 2016 squad being sixth in passing and total offense, eighth on third down and ninth in scoring. Troy Pelletier ranked fourth in the FCS in receptions and receiving yards and seventh in touchdowns on his way to being a Third Team All-American.
Ahead of the 2016 season, Brisson was a training camp intern with the San Francisco 49ers.
Brisson came to Lehigh from Division III Lycoming College (2012-13), where he was offensive coordinator while coaching the quarterbacks and receivers. He additionally served as recruiting coordinator. There, he helped the team to a 2013 league championship and developed a quarterback that set career program records in completion percentage and pass efficiency while finishing third in passing yards and touchdowns.
He also had coaching stops at St. Lawrence University (2010-11) as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Lehigh (2008-09) as an offensive graduate assistant working with the running backs, and he began his career at Franklin and Marshall College (2006-07) as its receivers coach.
