HARRISONBURG, Va., Oct. 14, 2005 – Hofstra senior right side Talita Silva (Raritan, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) recorded a double-double, netting 16 kills and posting 10 digs to lead the Hofstra Pride to a four-game win over the James Madison University Dukes in Colonial Athletic Association volleyball action.

Game one saw the Dukes build as much as a nine point lead (23-15) over the visiting Pride as the Dukes hit .293 (18-6-41) and held Hofstra to a .054 (10-8-37) attack percentage. Junior middle Ashley Copenhaver (Hedgesville, W. Va./Hedgesville) registered a game-high five kills on seven attempts with no errors for a .714 attack mark, and junior Amanda Snead (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) served three aces to lead the Dukes in game one to a 30-22 victory.  Silva registered four of her match-high 16 kills to lead the Pride attack in the first stanza.

Game two was nearly a mirror image of the first game as the Pride turned the tide on the Dukes out-hitting them .259 (11-4-27) to .054 (14-12-37). The Pride jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the second frame as the Dukes registered seven errors in the first 12 points of the game. The Pride went on to build as much as an 11-point lead (22-11) and never looked back while taking game two, 30-22.Â

In game three, the Dukes once again out-hit the Pride but five JMU service errors and 10 attack errors proved to be critical factors as the Pride took the game 30-28. The Pride held a slim lead most of the game until a kill by sophomore middle Allyson Halls (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy) gave the Dukes a 23-22 lead. As the game progressed, the Pride stayed within one point answering back each time the Dukes scored until two JMU attack errors gave the Pride a 29-27 lead. The game ended 30-28 as the Pride scored the game point on a JMU attack error. Senior outside Emilee Hussack Chambersburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley Christian) led the Dukes with six kills in the stanza.

In game four, Hofstra right side Beverly Rivera (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) netted seven kills on 11 attempts with no errors for a .636 attack rate as the Hofstra Pride closed the match out taking the final exciting stanza, 33-31.  The lead changed eight times in the game, six of those taking place within the final 10 points before the Pride registered its final two kills to take the match in game four. Sophomore middle Lesley Schmidt (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) and Copenhaver each netted four k
