HARRISONBURG, Va., Oct. 25, 2008 ? James Madison had the top time in all 13 events and placed second in all but one in a convincing 130-89 women's swimming and diving dual meet victory over Radford on Saturday afternoon at Savage Natatorium.
JMU improved to 3-0 overall. The Dukes have now won eight straight dual meets dating back to last season.
Three Dukes earned a pair of individual wins in the meet. Freshman Nicole Jotso (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) improved to a perfect 6-0 in dual meet diving events with wins in the one-meter (232.13) and the three-meter (259.13).
Sophomore Layne Eidemiller (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) swept the sprint freestyle races with times of 25.25 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and 55.53 seconds in the 100 free. Sophomore Kristen Wolla (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) was the other multiple winner with times of 5:15.03 in the 500 freestyle and 2:40.11 in the 200 breaststroke.
Other freestyle wins for the Dukes came from sophomore Emily Konieczny (West Springfield, Mass./Granby) in the 1,000 freestyle in 10:46.36 and freshman Emily Vance (Moraga, Calif./Campolindo) in the 200 free in 1:58.06.
In other individual wins, sophomore Morgan McCarthy (New Castle, Del./St. Mark's) took the 200 backstroke in 2:11.02, sophomore Jackie Hartman (Williamsburg, Va./Bruton) claimed the 200 individual medley in 2:13.71, and freshman Lauren Broussard (La Place, La./Mount Carmel Academy) triumphed in the 200 butterfly in 2:11.29.
JMU won the 400 medley relay to open the meet with McCarthy swimming leadoff. She was joined by sophomore Lisa Colapietro (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg), senior Jessica Lee (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin), and junior P.J. Naber (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly) in a time of 4:04.69.
