LACROSSE LOSES 11-9 AT FOURTH-RANKED VIRGINIA

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., March 26, 2008 -- Fourth-ranked Virginia downed James Madison 11-9 in women's lacrosse Wednesday evening at Klöckner Stadium.
The Dukes' record slipped to 3-5 as JMU lost to a Top 20 team for the fifth time this season. Virginia improved to 7-2.
Virginia opened up a 7-3 halftime lead. The Cavaliers extended the lead to an 11-3 margin with 14:12 to go in the game.
JMU then began a furious rally sparked by two goals by junior Jaime Dardine (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) just 33 seconds apart.
Dardine's third goal of the game cut the Virginia lead to 11-8 and redshirt sophomore Kim Griffin (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) scored with 2:13 to go to trim the lead to 11-9. The two teams went scoreless the rest of the way.
Jenny Hauser and Brittany Kalkstein scored three times each to pace Virginia. Hauser's two first half goals came in a span of 59 seconds to give UVA a 4-0 lead.
Kaitlin Duff chipped in with two goals for the Cavaliers, who out-shot the Dukes 34-23.
