SOFTBALL DROPS DOUBLEHEADER TO NO. 23/25 MARYLAND

COLLEGE PARK, Md., March 5, 2008 ? No. 25 (USA Today/NFCA) Maryland (15-1) swept both ends of a doubleheader against JMU (7-7) Wednesday, taking the first game 3-0 and the second 7-4.
Terrapins' pitcher Sarah Dooley picked up a win and a save in 11 innings of two-hit ball to lead UM.
In the second game, she was the fourth Maryland pitcher used. She came in and shut down the JMU attack, giving up one hit and one walk and striking out five in four innings of work. She earned the save for the Terrapins.
After JMU jumped on top 3-0 on junior shortstop Amber Kirk's first home run of the season, Maryland came back to score six runs of its own in the bottom of the first.
Kirk finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs.
Starter Branden Moss gave up two doubles and five hits total, as she was unable to get out of the first inning. Moss went 0.2 innings, gave six runs, three earned and walked one in her season debut.
Junior Jenny Clohan relieved Moss and went 5.1 innings, gave up four hits, one unearned run, walked three and struck out three.
