RICHMOND, Va., Jan. 31, 2009 ? Richmond won 10 of 16 events in picking up a women's swimming and diving dual meet victory over James Madison 167-127 on Saturday afternoon at the Robins Center Natatorium.
JMU fell to 7-4 on the season while Richmond improved to 2-3.
Freshman Nicole Jotso (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) was the highlight for the Dukes as she set her second diving school record of the season, winning the three-meter dive with a score of 312.38 to top the previous mark of 295.65. Jotso also won the one-meter dive with a score of 274.05. She set the school mark in the one-meter earlier this season at 283.05. Freshman Chelsea Savage (Bedford, Texas/L.D. Bell) set personal bests to take second in both dives at 257.70 and 241.73 respectively.
Sophomore Morgan McCarthy (New Castle, Del./St. Mark's) earned a pair of victories for JMU as well. She claimed the 100-yard backstroke in 59.30 and also won the 100 butterfly in 58.68 seconds.
JMU's other two wins in the meet came from sophomore Jackie Hartman (Williamsburg, Va./Bruton) in the 200 fly in 2:06.71 and sophomore Kristen Wolla (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) in the 500 free in 5:06.63.
The Dukes will have their final dual meet of the season in preparation for the CAA Championship next Saturday at 1 p.m. at Marshall.
