FAIRFAX, Va., Feb. 28, 2009 ? Three school records fell on the final day as James Madison finished fifth out of nine teams at the 2009 Colonial Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships at George Mason's Jim McKay Natatorium.
JMU improved two spots on its seventh-place finish of a year ago. Towson was the 2009 champion with 741 total points. William & Mary was second with 526 points followed by UNC Wilmington (476.5), George Mason (468), JMU (389), Delaware (331), Old Dominion (309.5), Northeastern (224), and Drexel (130).
Altogether, JMU broke 11 school records in the meet. Junior sprinter P.J. Naber (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly) finished ninth in the individual point standings with 46. Sophomore Jackie Hartman (Williamsburg, Va./Bruton) was 18th with 36 points.
Naber set her third individual school record of the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle in 50.32 seconds, topping her own school record from last year of 50.74 seconds. Freshman Christina Lepore (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) was 14th in 51.85 seconds.
Naber also factored into a record in the 400 freestyle relay with a fifth-place finish in 3:26.04, topping the old mark of 3:29.27. She swam leadoff followed by freshman Rebecca Hunt (Glen Allen, Va./J.R. Tucker), Lepore, and senior Meghan Heil (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park).
The other school record of the evening belonged to sophomore Emily Konieczny (West Springfield, Mass./Granby) in the 1,650 freestyle. Her time of 16:38.24 shattered t
