DUKES AND BLUE HENS TRADE OFFENSIVE OUTBURTS IN DOUBLEHEADER SPLIT

HARRISONBURG, Va., April 2, 2010 - James Madison and Delaware combined for 28 runs on 44 hits as the teams split a Colonial Athletic Association doubleheader at Veterans Memorial Park on Friday. JMU won game one 9-1 in six innings before falling in game two 14-4.
The split runs the Dukes' record to 15-19 overall and 3-2 in the CAA. The Blue Hens are now 9-18 and 1-4.
In game two, Ann Marie Pagano picked up the win. She gave up nine hits and four runs, three earned, in seven innings.
Junior right-hander Olivia McPherson (Liberty, N.C./Southern Alamance) took the loss to drop to 3-4. She gave up two runs on five hits in 3 2/3 innings. Freshmen Heather Dindinger (Riner, Va./Auburn) and Cara Stecher (New Castle, Del./Caravel Academy) comibined with junior Heather Widner (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Ready) to give up 12 runs, 11 earned, on 15 hits in 3 1/3 innings of relief.
Delaware's four through seven hitters went a combined 15-for-19 at the plate with three home runs, 11 runs and 11 RBIs. Shanette White went 3-for-4 with two home runs and six RBIs, while Rachel Jones went 5-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Cecile Egan and Amanda Stacevicz combined for seven hits.
JMU was led by freshman center fielder Jasmine Butler's (Winter Garden, Fla./West Orange) three hits and run scored. Sophomore shortstop Ashley Burnham (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) and senior first baseman Shannon Moxey (Church Road, Va./Mills Godwin) each extended their hitting streaks to seven games, while right fielder Lori Botkin (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
UD struck first, stringing together three straight singles to start the fourth inning. Stacevicz led off the inning with a single to left field. She moved to second on a single up the middle by Egan and scored on a drive into the gap by Rachel Jones. After a sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third with one out, third baseman Mary Ann Magee made it 2-0 with a single through the right side.
