TOWSON, Md., May 4, 2013 – The James Madison track & field squad finished in a tie for third place in the 2013 Colonial Athletic Association championships with UNCW at 127 points. The Dukes picked up two individual CAA championships and 10 All-CAA honorees.

William & Mary won the conference title with 154.50 points while Delaware took second place with 141.50 points.

Junior Erin Lopresti (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) won the CAA championship in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 10:55.87, the fifth-best time in JMU history. She earned 10 points for JMU in the final individual event of the meet for the Dukes.

Senior Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) repeated as the 1,500-meter champion with a time of 4:27.19 and knotted 10 points towards the Dukes' team total. Sophomore Kristen Landry (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) finished in seventh place with a time of 4:36.57 for an additional two points. Freshman Kathleen Stewart (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) was just outside of the scoring range with a ninth-place time of 4:42.31.

Senior Jennifer Monk (Bloomington, Ill./Central Catholic) set a school record with her second-place finish in the heptathlon. Her 4,796 points surpassed the previous record of 4,784 points set in 2008 by Christine Nicewonger as well as her own previous best of 4,555 points. She was just 19 points behind the CAA champion and notched eight team points for JMU. In her first conference heptathlon, sophomore Nicole Gilbert (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) picked up two team points with a personal-best final score of 4,074 points in seventh place, the eighth-best tally in JMU history.

Also picking up eight points for the Dukes was All-CAA freshman Adrienne Alexander (Queens, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin). She placed second in the shot put with a heave of 13.36 meters. Junior Kristen Greene (Colonial Heights, Va./Thomas Dale) took fourth place with a shot of 13.10 meters, earning five team points with her personal-best throw and fourth-best throw in school history.

In the 800-meter run, senior Annie Reiner (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) finished in third place with a time of 2:11.73 to earn All-CAA honors and six team points. Sophomore Morgan Sheaffer (New Bloomfield, Pa./West Perry) finished in fifth place at 2:15.16, a personal best, to tally four team points.

JMU qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference championships in the 4x100-meter relay with a fifth-place time of 47.84 seconds. The team was comprised of freshman Justice Seward (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes), freshman Rachel Watkins (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora), senior Marissa McDonald (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) and junior Ciarra Morris (Richmond, Va./Meadowbrook). Their time earned four team-points for the Dukes.
