Scouting Report
- Monday's game marks just the second meeting all-time between the two programs with JMU taking the first contest 56-33 on December 29, 2013, at the JMU Convocation Center. That game was played as part of the 2013 JMU Invitational.
- Last time out, JMU cruised to a 73-57 win at Davidson of the Atlantic 10 conference. Junior guard Precious Hall led the way for the Dukes with 20 points, surpassing 1,000 points for her career early in the contest on a made 3-pointer. Three more Dukes scored in double figures as junior guard Angela Mickens set a career high with 16 points while redshirt-senior center Lauren Okafor tallied 15 points. Senior forward Toia Giggetts rounded out the double-figure scoring by notching 12 points.
- Giggetts needs just 34 points to pass the 1,000-point plateau. She is looking to become the second player to accomplish the feat this season, as Hall surpassed the figure last time out against Davidson.
- Hall, who was selected as the conference's Preseason Player of the Year, is leading the CAA in points, averaging 24 per contest through the first eight games (No. 8 in the nation) and shooting 92.1 percent from the free throw line (18th-best nationally). Okafor is currently leading the league in rebounding with 12.6 boards per game and is tied for fourth in the conference with 1.4 blocks per contest. Mickens is leading the CAA in assists with an average of 7.1 per game through the firsteight games (fifth-best nationally). Her assist-to-turnover ratio sits at 2.48, which is good for second in the conference and 38th in the country.
- Overall, JMU leads the conference in scoring (77.0 ppg), scoring margin (+11.5), free throw percentage (.754), rebounding offense (45.0), rebounding margin (+10.5) and offensive rebounding percentage (.427).
- Ohio enters the contest 6-1, with its only loss coming last time out in a 76-68 loss at home to East Carolina on Saturday, Dec. 6. In the early goings, the Bobcats sit second in the Mid-Atlantic Conference (MAC) East standings behind Akron, who is unbeaten at 7-0.
- A team that shoots well from beyond the arc, Ohio is third in the country in made baskets from range (11.4) and is 23rd in the nation in 3-point shooting percentage (.388). On the flip side, Ohio is only allowing opponents to shoot 32.3 percent from the floor, which is good for ninth in the nation.
- Kiyanna Black leads the way for the Bobcats, averaging 17.9 points per game, but Ohio's offense is run by Yamonie Jenkins, whose 6.5 assist-to-turnover ratio is tops in the country.
