Game Plan
- James Madison plays its final game prior to the holiday break on Monday night at 7 p.m. when it hosts Norfolk State at the JMU Convocation Center. It is the second game in a four-game home stand for the Dukes.
- The game can be seen live on MadiZONE HD SportsNet, presented by the JMU Alumni Association. It will also be heard on the JMU/nTelos Wireless Broadcast Network and WSVA AM 550.
- This contest is sponsored by WSVA and is the United Way Game. Also, fans who brings an unwrapped toy for Marine Corps Toys for Tots will receive free general admission.
Scouting Report
- Monday marks the third meeting between JMU and Norfolk State as JMU owns a 2-0 record in the series, with the previous two coming at home. The previous meeting occurred on Dec. 2, 2009, with the Dukes coming away with a 72-64 win against the Spartans. In that game, Pierre Curtis led five players in double figures with 17 points. JMU was outshot, shooting percentage-wise, but outscored NSU 17-11 off turnovers and 13-4 in second-chance opportunities after forcing 17 turnovers and grabbing 14 offensive rebounds.
- JMU is 7-4 on the year with a 6-2 mark at home while the Spartans, who have won two in a row, are 8-5, despite struggling on the road with a 1-4 record on the road.
- Last time out, JMU saw its six-game win streak end with an 80-71 setback against High Point on Saturday. HPU used a 10-0 run in the second half to escape with a road win, behind a game-high 24 points from John Brown.
- The Dukes had four players score at least 11 points, led by Jackson Kent, who tied his career-high total with 18 points after knocking down a career-best five treys. Hari Hall also tied his freshman-best mark with 15 points.
- Looking ahead to this matchup, Norfolk State averages 71.1 points per game with a plus-6.6 scoring margin while JMU scores 66.7 points to go with a minus-0.1 margin on the scoreboard. NSU is one of the better rebounding teams JMU will face this season as the Spartans hold a +6.3 rebounding edge on average. The opposition also shoots 46 percent this season, just ahead of JMU's 45 percent.
- JMU will take a week-long break for the holidays and continue the home stand on Monday, Dec. 29 against Valparaiso at 7 p.m.
