Scouting Report
- Sunday marks the second meeting all-time between JMU and Davidson. The Dukes won the only previous meeting with the Wildcats 64-49 in the 2012 WNIT at the JMU Convocation Center (March 15).
- Last time out on Wednesday night at the Convo, JMU earned its fourth double-digit victory of the season by topping Richmond 79-68. The win marked the second in a row for JMU as well as the third straight loss for the Spiders after starting the year 3-0.
- Madison dropped out of the USA Today Coaches poll this week after falling to then-No. 8 Maryland in the San Juan Shootout, but the Dukes are not far from the Top 25, receiving the most votes in the poll among the unranked teams (71 points). Mississippi State is No. 25 in the poll with 85 points.
- Junior guard Precious Hall is just seven points shy of the 1,000-point club after posting 27 points against Richmond. She has scored in double figures in 16 consecutive contests.
- Hall, who was selected as the conference's Preseason Player of the Year, is leading the CAA in points, averaging 24.6 per contest through the first seven games (10th best mark nationally) and shooting 97.0 percent from the free throw line (third best nationally). Redshirt-senior center Lauren Okafor is currently leading the league in rebounding with 12.3 boards per game and is tied for third in the conference with 1.4 blocks per contest. Junior guard Angela Mickens is leading the CAA in assists with an average of 7.4 per game through the first seven games (fourth best nationally).
- Overall, JMU leads the conference in scoring (77.6 ppg), scoring margin (+10.9), free throw percentage (.764), rebounding offense (45.1) and defense (33.9), rebounding margin (+11.3) and offensive rebounding percentage (.431).
- Davidson enters the contest at 3-4 and comes off an overtime loss to North Carolina A&T last time out. The Wildcats saw a 14-point lead slip away and watched the Aggies score the first 10 points of overtime en route to the victory. In its first season in the A-10, Davidson was picked to finish 12th after spending the last 21 years in the Southern Conference.
- Two Wildcats average in double figures with Hannah Early leading the way with 15.1 points per game and Mackenzie Latt close behind with a 12.6 points per game clip. Latt was named A-10 Rookie of the Week on Nov. 24 after averaging 17 points in three games during the week. Latt is also averaging a team-high 8.7 rebounds sper game and 1.6 steals per contest.
