Scouting Report
- JMU opens the 2015 CAA slate against Towson with a 9-2 record after falling 66-62 at Vanderbilt last Monday. The Dukes have won 15 consecutive games at the JMU Convocation Center, all in front of at least 2,000 fans, and the home win streak is the sixth longest in the nation.
- The Dukes and Tigers have faced off 38 times since 1923, with the Dukes holding a 35-3 edge in total wins, including the last six meetings. Last season, JMU earned an 82-40 win over Towson at the Convo.
- Madison's five-game win streak was snapped at Vanderbilt on Dec. 29 when the Dukes fell 66-62 to the Commodores.
- In the last contest, junior guard Ashley Perez dropped a career-high 21 points while junior forward Destiny Jones snagged a career-high eight rebounds, including six on the offensive glass.
- Senior forward Toia Giggetts needs just 12 points to reach the 1,000-point plateau. She is looking to become the second player to accomplish the feat this season, as Hall surpassed the figure on Dec. 7 in a 73-57 win over Davidson in North Carolina.
- As a program, JMU has 998 confirmed victories over 94 years in existence. With two more wins, the Dukes will become just the third team in Division I history to reach 1,000 program victories.
- Towson went 4-8 through the non-conference portion of the season, including losses in three of their last four contests. The Tigers last win came on Dec. 28 at home against former league adversary George Mason (72-70).
- The Tigers' offense runs through LaTorri Hines-Allen and Dominique Johnson, who are averaging 18.6 points and 13.3 points per game, respectively. Hines-Allen also leads the Tigers in rebounds with 9.3 boards per contest.
- Among CAA teams, Towson allows opponents the fewest points from beyond the arc. The Tigers lead the league in 3-point field goal percentage defense as foes are scoring just 26.5 percent of the time from long range. JMU is third in the CAA in 3-point field goal percentage at a 36.1 percent clip.
