Scouting Report
- Thursday marks the second regular season contest of the season between JMU and William & Mary with the Dukes taking a convincing 65-43 decision in Williamsburg, Va., on Jan. 11. Overall, JMU holds a 64-15 advantage in the all-time series while Head Coach Kenny Brooks holds a 22-3 mark against the Tribe. Brooks has not lost to William & Mary at the Convo, as each of his three losses to the Tribe came on the road in Kaplan Arena.
- In the first meeting between the two teams this season, redshirt-senior center Lauren Okafor led the Dukes with 16 points and nine rebounds while both junior guard Precious Hall and senior forward Toia Giggetts chipped in 12 points to round out the double-figure scoring. Jazmen Boone led the Tribe with 13 points, as she was the only double-figure scorer for William & Mary in the contest.
- The Dukes have started Colonial Athletic Association play 6-0 (15-2 overall) and have topped their opponents by an average margin of 15.7 points. JMU has defeated two CAA opponents by 22 points to mark the largest margin-of-victory in conference play. Those two wins came in back-to-back games against Northeastern and William & Mary.
- In the last three games, JMU has only allowed opponents to score 48.3 points per game. Meanwhile, the Dukes are scoring 66.3 points per game for an 18-point winning margin.
- Last time out, JMU battled a stingy Drexel team on Sunday afternoon that was only allowing opponents to score 55.4 points per contest. With a 66-51 victory that was fueled by Hall's game-high 22 points, the Dukes extended their first-place advantage in the conference and kept their perfect league mark.Â
- Okafor played a big part in JMU's victory over Drexel, posting 17 points and six rebounds. The effort, combined with her 17 points and 14 rebounds against Elon last Thursday, earned her a third CAA Player of the Week honor this season and second in a row.
- William & Mary comes in having won its last time out for the first time in eight tries, as the Tribe broke a seven-game losing streak. The victory came on the road at Delaware with a final score of 50-48.
- Center Abby Rendle was named CAA Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon after averaging 15 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.5 blocks per game in the Tribe's 1-1 showing last week.
- The Tribe is led by Marlena Tremba, who is averaging 13.1 points per game. She has made nearly 50 percent (46.6 percent) of William & Mary's three-point buckets this season, hitting 35 of the team's 75 made three-pointers. Jazmen Boone rounds out the double-figure scoring for the Tribe with an average of 11.5 points per game.
- Keeping the score low and only averaging 64.0 points per game while giving up 63.9 points per contest, the Tribe averages 14.4 steals per game to lead the league. Both teams average 14.4 assists per game with Jenna Green averaging 3.2 per outing.
