Scouting Report
- Looking to continue its two-game winning streak, JMU takes on the Huskies coming off a 17-point victory (74-57) over UNCW last time out at the JMU Convocation Center. The 1,000th win put JMU in an elite class, joining Tennessee (1,288 wins) and Louisiana Tech (1,060 wins) as the only three programs in the nation to have hit the mark.
- All-time, Madison and Northeastern have battled 15 times with JMU holding a 14-1 advantage in the series. The last time the two programs met came on the final day of the 2013-14 regular season as the Dukes closed out the slate with an 86-49 victory on the road against the Huskies.
- In Tuesday's contest against UNCW, senior forward Toia Giggetts reached the 1,000-point plateau with the game's first basket, as the senior entered the contest with 999 points. She is the 28th player in program history to accomplish the feat (1,007 career points) and the second this season. Junior guard Precious Hall passed the mark on Dec. 7, 2014, in a road win against Davidson in North Carolina (1,117 career points).
- Against the Seahawks, Hall led the way for the Dukes with her first career double-double, as she scored 25 points and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds. Redshirt-senior center Lauren Okafor also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, her sixth of the season. Junior guard Angela Mickens rounded out the double-figure scoring for the Dukes, chipping in 15 points while falling two assists short of a double-double herself.
- Head Coach Kenny Brooks is approaching a milestone in his own right, as he sits 11 wins away from breaking the school record for most wins in program history. Currently, Brooks holds 292 wins at the helm of the JMU women's basketball program. Shelia Moorman is the all-time winningest coach at JMU with 302 victories, leading the Dukes from 1982-1997.
- After starting the 2014-15 season 2-1, Northeastern has struggled of late, with losses to Hofstra, Drexel and Boston College in each of the last three games . Friday's contest will be the first home game for the Huskies since Dec. 22 when they lost a heartbreaking one-point game to New Hampshire. Since that contest, Northeastern has played four games on the road, winning the first game of the roadtrip 70-67 against Albany.
- Northeastern is led by three players who average double figures in A'lece Mark, Tiffany Montagne and Samantha DeFreese. Mark guides the ship for the Huskies in averaging 14.9 points per game with 17 steals in just 10 appearances. Montagne and DeFreese both average 12.2 points per game while DeFreese is averaging 6.7 rebounds per contest. On the boards, Francesca Sally pulls down 7.2 rebounds per game while posting an average of nine points down low.
